A Child Called "it" #2

After the book said he was free from his mother, David talked abut how this all started from the very beginning. David talks about how they were the perfect happy family which completely surprised me because of what he said his mother did to him. David mentioned how him and his two brothers were blessed with the perfect parents. He told of the adventures they went on and how they had lots of fun together. He said that his father was a fireman and worked in the heart of San Francisco. He spoke of how his mother would cook a feast and dressed fancy when she knew he was coming home. David says his mom's favorite thing was to make," exotic, and fancy meals." This reminded me of my mom and how she cooks. David also said his mother is a clean freak and wanted them to pick up after themselves. Once again this reminds me of my mom. It sounds like to me that David had a great life then, but what happened? David said that his relationship with mother drastically changed out of control. For instance, when he did something bad and his other brothers did the same thing, he would be put in the corner. This is when David started getting scared of mother. This seems to me like a huge change between a perfect mom to a awful one. Dave said that she started doing nothing but siting on the couch in her bathrobe and watching TV, he said she only got up to warm up frozen food and get another drink. This made me realize that drinking may be part of the problem. Dave said that her nice beautiful voice turned into the wicked witch. David said that mother decided the corner treatment wasn't enough and started more harsh forms of punishment. David said that she did a number of things, including hitting him, starving him, threatening him, and making him do chores.

  1. Amazing blog. The way you show the things this kid has experienced is outstanding. These kids need a lot of help because they are being brutally hurt. When you talked about what his mother did to him I thought about how the kid must feel. Great blog, I enjoyed it.
